iAssist Foundation 4 Sickle Cell (iF4SC) Constitution

Summary

The iF4SC is a local initiative that brings together individuals, youths, informal Sickle Cell groups, and partners to support physical, mental, and social wellbeing of sickle cell warriors and their Caregivers.

We use the hum.community app to make shared funding decisions that strengthen community connection, inclusion, and resilience.

1. Purpose

The purpose of the iF4SC is to:

Support local activities that promote wellbeing, belonging, and mutual support.
Address the root causes of loneliness, stress, and social isolation.
Enable residents to co-design local solutions that reflect community needs.
Build a shared culture of care, learning, and creativity.

2. Guiding Principles

Our shared principles guide all decisions and behaviour:

Inclusion: Everyone is welcome.
Participation: Decisions are made with the community, not for the community.
Transparency: All funding and decisions are visible in the app.
Collaboration: We partner with local organisations and services where possible.
Wellbeing First: We prioritise our community's health, safety, and dignity.
Accountability: We track outcomes and share what we learn.

3. Membership

Eligibility:

Anyone who lives, works, volunteers, or studies in the local area can apply to join.
Members must agree to this constitution and act in line with the iF4SC's principles.

Rights and Responsibilities:

Members have the right to:

Submit ideas and proposals.
Vote on funding decisions.
Receive updates and reports on fund use.

Members agree to:

Participate in at least one discussion or vote per quarter.
Respect different views and cultural perspectives.
Maintain confidentiality and care in how information is shared.

Ending Membership:

A member may resign at any time.
Membership may also be ended by unanimous Steward agreement if a person repeatedly breaches group values or causes harm.

4. Stewardship and Roles

iF4SC will appoint 3–6 Stewards who:

Uphold the constitution and ensure fair use of funds.
Facilitate meetings and support new members.
Check that proposals align with the fund's purpose before they go to vote.

Steward terms last for 36 months and can be renewed

Stewards can be replaced through a community vote if they are unable to fulfil their duties.

Specific Steward roles may include:

Community Connector: Engages members and supports relationships.
Finance Lead: Tracks spending and ensures reporting accuracy.
Communications Lead: Shares updates and manages public information.

5. Decision-Making via hum.community

The iF4SC uses the hum.community app to run a transparent participatory process:

Members post ideas for community wellbeing projects.
Stewards help refine ideas into proposals that fit the fund's goals.
Proposals are published for community discussion.
All members can vote using the hum.community voting tools.
Successful proposals receive agreed funding directly.
Project leads share updates and results with the group.

6. Fund Management

Funding comes from donations, grants, or local sponsors.
All spending is tracked publicly through hum.community.
Microgrants are typically between $ 50 and $ 21,000.
All project reports and outcomes remain visible to members.
If external funders wish to observe, they will be granted "view only" access in the app.

7. Conflict Resolution

Any dispute should first be discussed calmly by those involved.
If needed, a Steward-led mediation process will take place.
If a resolution cannot be reached, the matter may be referred to an independent facilitator agreed by both parties.

8. Amendments

Proposed changes to this constitution must be shared with all members at least two weeks before voting.
Amendments require 75% Steward approval and majority community agreement.

9. Data, Privacy, and Communication

Members agree to respect each other's privacy and data rights.
hum.community manages data securely and in line with its published privacy policy.
Photos or media may only be shared with consent.
Communication should always be respectful, inclusive, and constructive.

10. Evaluation and Learning

Every six months the iF4SC will:

Review funded projects and community feedback.
Share a "Learning Summary" with members and funders.
Use the findings to adapt and improve the next round of funding.

11. Closure of the Fund

If the iF4SC is dissolved, remaining funds or equipment will be donated to a local charity, social enterprise, or trust with similar goals, as decided by community vote.
